Lizzie so kindly reminded me that I never posted about the Founder's Rocks like I said I would. Okay Lizzie, here's one of them
As you can probably tell by the grafitti, this one was closer to the highway. THROWBACK!!! There are some along the highways, because, according to the historian, they were markers used by people when they were getting here for the first time (wowww good connection to an older post go me! I'm a real blogger now, mom!). We had a road even before cars, because we had to transport copper ourselves since we didnt have a railway (YEAAHHH I'm so knowledgeable I'm improving I'm getting there!!!). Copper is really heavy apparently and that's why there was a smelting site build and all that industrial stuff. So horses could lug it to the next closest town to be taken for sale. The copper making process makes the ore lighter which made it even possible to do that for the 30 years the mine was actually active
There's more founders rocks than just the highway one. People have carved more over the years, because it was trendy or something for declaring our independence after the company left. And people have just kept up the tradition ever since, though less now these days. But you can buy one if you go by the gas station!!! If you come to homestead, you can take a peek :D
